What is the Magento 2 Certified Professional Developer Plus exam?
Magento 2 Certified Professional Developer Plus is the exam aimed at a senior developer who not only possesses deep expertise in Magento Commerce customization but also had an experience of leading development teams and projects, interacting with clients on project requirements and being responsible for important technical decisions. To pass the exam, the examinee should prove he or she possesses knowledge and skills in catalogue and checkout, core architecture and Magento Commerce features, UI modifications and security. In addition to this, the exam validates a deep understanding of the crucial Magento areas, like quote operations, checkout and price calculation. Moreover, the ability to assess the influence of customizations and make decisions regarding Magento architecture.
Since such a level of Magento competence is obtained through hard-earned work and participation in numerous projects, the Magento 2 Certified Professional Developer Plus exam is advised to be taken by a developer with not less than two years of experience. The certification test is based on the Magento Commerce 2.2.x version, which makes it a very up-to-date and relevant.

The examinee is given 90 minutes to complete a 60-question exam. The questions are multiple-choice and scenario-based, meaning that a person should select a solution to a problem or the best way to achieve a certain result. One can take the exam n a specialized Magento test centre or online, which is a great option for those who do not have a test centre in their city or even in their country. To pass the exam, one must score 63% or higher. If a person fails to score the lowest passing grade, they are allowed to take repetitive tries at the exam for a reduced voucher price.

The BelVG marketing team asked Artsem a couple of questions to find out – is a Magento certification exam that hard?
How long did it take you to get ready for this exam?
I can’t say for sure, but I spent more time on preparation this time than when I was preparing for the Magento 2 Professional Developer exam. The Plus exam is way more complicated, and it covers a much wider scope of aspects, so it required quite an effort to get ready. Thankfully, due to my Magento development experience, I have helped the tasks. Also, I wrote a number of articles for our Magento 2 Professional Developer Plus tutorial, and it allowed me to get to the bottom of things I was not sure about before.
Was the exam much different from the Magento 1 Professional Developer Plus you passed in 2016?
Actually, yes. They changed the question formulation into the scenario-based section, which I personally liked very much. I believe this exam really verifies the practical Magento skills that the developer possesses, not the knowledge of some theoretical and abstract concepts. On the other hand, these questions make the exam much more complicated to get ready for and pass.
Why did you decide to take Magento 2 Professional Developer Plus? Were you not satisfied with Magento 2 Professional Developer certificate?
The Plus certification is a whole new level, and this certificate tells a lot about the level of expertise that someone possesses. I felt that in order to grow personally and professionally, I needed to pass this exam.
What turned out to be the greatest challenge when you took this exam?
To complete it within 90 minutes! I tended to contemplate the questions and answer options a lot first, then I realized I am running out of time and I needed to think faster. Lucky for me, I finished just on time.
What are your future plans regarding Magento certification? Do you plan to take other exams?
I am not sure about it right now. At the moment, I am quite content with the knowledge I gained from Professional Developer Plus, but if I suspect I am lacking the understanding of some notions, I may consider taking another exam.
