Working in e-commerce sooner or later any developer gets the task to implement a payment system on the web-store. Basically, there are not so many ways, but their features may seem confusing not only for customers, but even for developers. (more…)
Shiny new Prestashop 1.5.4 has just been released. Let’s take a tour of the fresh-from-the-oven features. And we’ll start from the very beginning – the installation process.
Store owners from Poland and Russia will definitely be pleased. Polish and Russian are now included in the installation package – no need to additionally download and install the languages.
A new goblet icon will definitely catch your eye in the back office:
Click it and View my complete profile link next to see the page where everything you need to configure in your store is being displayed.
Slightly below the configurations area events that are significant for your store are being displayed. For instance, “100,000 carts have been created by visitors” or “You received your first customer message”:
Message at the beginning of the page provides you with additional info on these changes:
«With all of the great features and benefits that PrestaShop offers, it’s important to keep up!
The main goal of all of the features we offer is to make you succeed in the e-commerce world. In order to accomplish this, we have created a system of badges and points that make it easy to monitor your progress as a merchant. We have broken down the system into three levels, all of which are integral to success in the e-commerce world: (i) Your use of key e-commerce features on your store; (ii) Your sales performance; (iii) Your presence in international markets.
The more progress your store makes, the more badges and points you earn. No need to submit any information or fill out any forms; we know how busy you are, everything is automatic!»
New PrestaShop Cleaner module will help you remove default data, clean a catalog or delete orders:
BO will treat you with new display of payment modules in a payment tab:
Core: added a boolean in the database (guest/cart/order) in order to know if the customer used the mobile theme for the order. Store owner will finally understand if he/she needs to install or improve the mobile theme.
Some modules now have caching: editorial, blocksocial, blocksearch, blockcustomerprivacy, homeslider. Let’s take blocksocial, for instance:
if (!$this->isCached('blocksocial.tpl', $this->getCacheId()))
'facebook_url' => Configuration::get('blocksocial_facebook'),
'twitter_url' => Configuration::get('blocksocial_twitter'),
'rss_url' => Configuration::get('blocksocial_rss')
return $this->display(__FILE__, 'blocksocial.tpl', $this->getCacheId());
A lot of bugs were fixed. Check out the changelog here.
