After installing Prestashop 1.7 in English language you may wonder how you can install other languages for your store. In this article I’ll explain you step by step how it can be done and where you can add translations.
The process is pretty simple and doesn’t require programming skills, though you need to know where you need to click.
As you can see there is a big section in the left menu of the admin panel called IMPROVE. In this section you can find a tab called International. First of all, we need to navigate to Localization, then you’ll see something of the kind:

Visit the pageNavigate to Languages to see all languages that are already added to your installation. As you can see English feels kind of alone and needs some company here:
Developers say Prestashop 1.7 is ready for translation.
There are some languages that are already 100% translated and some that don’t have full translations and/or are not approved yet. You can check here if the language you would like to add is already available.
Adding a language automatically in Prestashop 1.7
Navigate to IMPROVE / International / Translations
Find a block called ADD / UPDATE A LANGUAGE. Select the language you need from the dropdown list, press Add or update a language.
And voila a new language is added to your Prestashop installation:
And when you navigate to Languages, you’ll see that English is not alone anymore.
And on frontend you can select a language:
After changing the language, check the footer copyright message and make sure it’s in the same language as your whole website.
